frog day

Today's the day frogs wake up from their winter hibernation and enjoy the first warm day of spring.

It's one of those days when I feel like I have to get my shit together.  I'm starting to feel anxious about my future, and money.  I've started this new high interest savings account here in Korea and with that, I feel a sense of control in my life.  I realize I haven't been the best at controlling my spending.  I don't want to be thirty without a penny, living paycheck to paycheck.  And so next month, I'm going to start investing in some stocks.  I'm starting off small, real small, but it's a start.  I realize I'm not going to be young forever and I need to seriously think about my financial future.

I've been with him for nine months now--  by far the longest relationship I've been in.  And now I wonder if I can marry him.  I'm searching for great love, and I know we love each other, but we love each other so differently.  Some say that a man's great love is his first and a woman's great love is her last.  It's like a catch-22, a situation where neither can really win unless your first love is your last love.  I find it so amazing that this is actually true.  He still thinks about his first love after over ten years.  And here I am, searching for true love, great love.  Is what I have it?  If not, is it out there?

It's been about nine months since my last entry.  Let's see.  Let's do a quick update.  Since June I've been seeing this guy... makes it a record of 8 months.  And I love him.  Hee hee.  If you've been keeping up with this then you'll know my life's been a series of unsuccessful relationships, or what resembles a relationship.  Actually, none of my "relationships" in Korea have been relationships.  More like hook ups.  I'm so glad I'm in a long term relationship.  Now I think I understand what this whole relationship thing is all about.  It's when that person is not only your sex partner, but also your best friend.  Who'd have thunk?!  I also learned that in a long term relationship, you don't fuck every night you're with them.  Then you'd be too tired.  Instead, you have pillow talks or just plain "I'm too tired tonight" lines.  But hey, that's okay, because sex with one partner for a long time is a lot better than having many of those awkward first nights.  Let's see, what else.  Oh, and you find out all those annoying habits about them, and they find out those about you too, but you get over it, just like all those little petty fights, and kiss and make up and don't remember what those fights were about.

So he and I just came back from a one week trip to Hawaii.  Went surfing, got our stuff stolen from the back of our trunk, but that's okay, because we went surfing.  We also ate some good food and stayed at a really nice place our last night.

I got my ID stolen so I couldn't take the LSAT.  That's okay too.  It only means I have more time to study for it in June.

i'm so sick of people talking about africa as if it's one country. don't they fucking know there are like 53-55 countries in Africa? (some consider themselves independent while the international community may consider them a part of another country. hence, the ambuiguity in the number of african countries.)

and what's worse is people who come back from "africa" saying they just came back from "africa". clearly, whoever comes back from "africa" and says they were just in "africa" wasn't there long enough to know how varied and diverse the countries in africa are in its languages, cultures, people, food, geography, history, etc. and worst of all, they come back from "africa" thinking somehow they know more about the world than everyone and think they've acquired some fucking hidden knowledge that no one knows about. as if they've find the fountain of youth.

Last week was Paris, this week, it's back to Seoul

It's been an entire week since I got back from Paris, and I'm still thinking about it. Paris was amazing! Not only did I see all the beautiful sites, the weather was perfect and the food was better than I expected. It was like in the movies-- people speaking French, eating baguettes and drinking coffee at the cafes, and romance everywhere. There was so much romance in Paris that even I, the jaded and cynical ex-romantic, was able to experience it. There, I met a handsome 28 year old Swiss man. He was my friend's boyfriend's friend's friend. Not only does he look perfect, he's a mathematician who's also been to Korea! None of my past love interests have had any exposure to Korea, except through kimchi, Korean barbeque, and me, so I'm really glad to have met someone who's actually visited more places in Korea than I have.

His name's Marcel and he and i spent my 26th birthday together. I couldn't have asked for better way to enter my late 20s. Paris, warm weather, hot guy.... This sounds cliche, but we got together at the Eiffel Tower and from there, we moved to the Moulin Rouge and walked up to Sacred Heart where there's a beautiful view of the city of Paris. And then we went back down to the Champs Mar where we kissed, under the Eiffel Tower! It was PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT. Then we went to dinner at this romantic Italian restaurant. And then we said goodbye, because the wine was making me sleepy. I didn't sleep with him though, because I didn't think that would be romantic. SIGH. I wonder if I'll see him again.

He did e-mail me the other day, so it means he's thinking of me. But I don't think I should get ahead of myself. I tend to do that a lot.

Oh, and how could I forget? I bought the red enamel French purse from the LV boutique at Champs-Elysees. It's divine!

tokyo, paris, here i come

it's been a long time since I last updated my blog, but i thought now's a good time since my flight's delayed and i finally have some free time to do this.  i guess i can be looking around the LV duty free store, but i think i should stay away, especially since i bought a LV bag in march (tax free in hong kong), a gucci and another lv bag two weeks ago (got my VAT return today), and I plan to buy a red LV French purse next week, when I go to PARIS~ to see a friend from college.

so, let me give you a brief update of my life.

april

i went on two dates with this metrosexual guy who wore kiehl's lip balm.  at first,  i wasn't interested in him, but after two dates, i started to like him, but then he stopped calling.  what the fuck?  at the time i thought he was genuine, but now i think he was looking for a quick lay and i wasn't looking for that, and when he realized that, he decided to disappear.  after that, i felt really lonely and irritated so i decided to get some retail therapy.  i bought an lv bag, gucci bag, a maltese dog which i had to return because i found out i'm allergic to it and lost half the money i spent on it because they said they probalby wouldn't be able to sell it since i've taken it home once already and jinxed it.  that dog cost more than an high class prostitute and i lost half that amount.  urg~

march

i went to hong kong to visit a high school friend and bought an lv bag, tiffany's necklace, and a coach bag.  omg i'm becoming a name brand whore.

february

mm... i don't remember.  i think i remember staying home on valentine's day~  ke ke.

january

literally worked everyday all the time the entirety of january.

I think I need to board my plan now. YAY~  i'll be in tokyo in two hours!  sayoonara~
